26 on 8/26

Today she is 26. It seemed just yesterday when we went to washington lake park tried to roller blade, that was my present to her then … my guts. The date was august 27, 2002, the day after her birthday. I can vaguely remember when she told me she wore that crazy looking attire for her birthday telling me that we are entitled to wear ugly clothes on our birthday. She was 23 years old then. Those were the days. At that time I didn’t even know that this was the girl that I was going to marry.

I remember on october that same year, I called her and asked what she was up to. She told me she was bored and that she wanted to drive around. So I asked her if I can go with her and she said yes. So i took her to sandy cove … ha ha ha, that was some drive. It was sweet.

By the end of that year I told her that I loved her. In the span of three years, we got engaged, got married and had a daughter. In the short time that I’ve known you mahal, it seemed like I’ve known you since forever. My life was never the same since that day you left that comment in my xanga guestbook.

Indeed Habakkuk 2:3 has been God’s promise for us in our relationship and in our lives.

Thank you for being my friend, my wife, my arch-nemesis and for being the sweetest mom. Emma and I love you. We hope that you will have the best birthday ever.

It seems as if it hasn’t been 1 month, but we made it! Thank the Lord for sustaining us through the nights we had to wake up every time she cried because she was hungry and her diaper needed changing. Some nights, i have to admit, were annoying because i didn’t get enough rest, but every morning when i look at her face and i’m very conscious, i apologize to her for being sometimes cross with her. i know it’s not her fault; it’s my inability to be more patient.

She weighs about 7lbs now and her facial hair has fallen off as well as some of her hair on her head. Her skin has stopped shedding, and her features are more prominent now that she’s gaining weight. Her nails grow so quickly and her facial expressions make me laugh so much.

She drinks almost 3oz. each feeding after she’s had a long sleep, which usually lasts for 2-3 hours. She happens to love her Papasan, the one titoFred gave her, and lately she’s been appeased by her green Nuk binkie. We also usually swaddle her because her sporadic spasms wake her up and she ends up crying.

So that’s Zem in one month. it’s getting harder to burp her and gas is usually something we can’t control, and something that usually bothers her, detering her to sleep or eat.
