crazy idea for blogs

September 27, 2006 · Written By Perze Ababa  · View Comments

identity theft, stalkers, spammers and what-not are just a few of the reasons why this idea is somewhat relevant.

I was thinking of charging people if they want to read any blog entry that’s a month old and older, they should pay for premium access. this idea is not original and is being used by countless newspapers that are on the web.

I’m not being a jerk here but something like that should deter these crazy spammers and wannabe posers to think twice bwfore they go and read about my life.

Aside from that main requirement I should be able to grant full access to anyone at anytime. Or maybe give away coupons and what-not.

This is a double-edged sword. one, it will deter so called “undesirables” from looking into the site and two, it will force me to write better since someone is actually paying me for what I write.

‘Save My Wife’ by Nick Kristof

Reading this article just brought me back to the time when marchesa was giving birth to emma. she had a pretty long labor, more or less 13 hours from the time we got to the hospital until emma came out. the pushing part came pretty quick though didn’t even last 20 minutes.

i was right next to her, two doctors and a tirade of nurses were alternating in checking her making sure she is OK. I was a nervous wreck. I can see her pain, I could hear her cries, the strong squeeze from her hand, nothing could prepare you for this moment.

It was sheer joy for me when i first saw marchesa smile after emma came out. everything went very well.

this is not the story behind Prudence Lumekuono from Cameroon. her husband will never see her smile again

an unlikely early phonecall

i was groggy this morning when i received a phone call around 9am.  naturally, i thought it was perze but it ended up being ate tess.  with my morning voice, we discussed the anniversary projects and how some things can be feasible and more efficient with the presentations.  then we ended up talking for a good hour sharing struggles in the ministry.

i was really taken aback from her trust in me in sharing some personal things she’s lately experienced, also because it may have related to what i shared as well.  but what i really admired, aside from her honesty in being human, is her personality to not let it get to her…hahahah…she’s so professional as well as reasonable.  she doesn’t respond or react instantaneously with mere visceral emotions.  we had shared what we had felt and observed from both sides, knowing that God is building his people, and people not building their kingdoms.

i really appreciate her sound words.  it has really affirmed what i’ve been feeling and praying about, and cofirming what i feel God telling me.

not to mention her words of encouragement for me personally.  in ministry, i’ve learned not to expect words of affirmation for my labor as not to take credit for the glorious works God does.  so when enriching things are spoken, i take it surprisingly and humbly.  she thanked me for my commitment to the youth and for my labor and time.   she said that she’s really seen dramatic changes in her girls and even the other youth.  but i praise God more for His work in them because i know i can talk to them, with them, and influence them, chill with them, and get close to them in friendship and leadership, but ultimately, i know everything is futile without God’s working in their hearts and lives.

so it’s nice to be acknowledged, but all glory to God.

it’s even harder to take a position in church because of our availability and long distance, but God still uses us.  i’m really excited for the youth in my church…really…i think about each one of them sometimes before i go to bed, and it’s so encouraging to see them transform and get serious in their relationship with christ. i’m hanging on to my personal hope for all of them.

in other unrelated but more sweet news, Perze called me this afternoon and said he was at Tower Records.  hahaha..  he bought me Clay’s 3rd CD that came out today… he’s so sweet to indulge me in my odd fetishes.  it’s also our sixnineteen today but we’ll be staying in for dinner cuz of our diet.

i’m proud to say that i’ve gotten down to 111 lbs. … 4 more pounds and i’ll be back to my pre-pregnancy weight.

train stories – 9/19/2006

September 19, 2006 · Written By Perze Ababa  · View Comments

there are downs and downs when you take the train to work everyday and one of them is the schedule. njtransit never fails to charge my card at the beginning of the month but what I really want them to do is that everytime they get delayed or get delayed some more, they should at least give the money back. as the backyardigans would say, darn tootin’

whenever I take the 8:26 train to dover there is this 2000 year old lady passenger. I get so scared everytime she takes a step because i’m afraid she would fall apart. every single time she would be wearing her cardigan sweater, read her mystery book and eat her oatmeal. every now and then a train conductor would talk to her and make joke or two. she would always look stoic never flinching. I guess it just comes with age.

Today is 3319 and incidentally International Speak Like a Pirate Day.

your booty shivers me timbers … argggh.

whatever that means…

the good thing about not being able to sleep at night is that I’d be able to sleep better on the train

The nights just keeps on getting cooler and cooler as summer fades into fall. Pretty soon winter will be here. I’ll be prepared when that time comes.

In my devotion today, I read about how being accustomed in darkness will make us experience pain once the light is shined on us. Over the weekend, we went to the eye doctor to have our eyes checked. They have this procedure where the will dilate your eyes. Man firsthand account will tell you how crazy the world looks under the bright sun when your eyes are dilated. I tell you there is no shade that would make your eyes feel better except for darkness.

When we sin we allow ourselves to be in engulfed in darkness. When we are in darkness, we tend to be short-sighted and only see the things near us. We need to be in the light in order to see the beauty of God’s glory.

Ephesians 5:8

For though your hearts were once full of darkness, now you are full of light from the Lord, and your behavior should show it!
