things she can say

at sixteen months, she knows how to count to three.  granted, she might not know they’re numbers, but she does know they follow each other.  she usually counts before she wants to run or jump.  but if ask her to count, she knows you’re asking for one, two, three.  i think she learned this because she loves when i read her favorite book that has counting numbers. whenever she sees the numbers, she tries to count them, even if it’s 5, it’ll be either one, two, or three.  but i’m still amazed nonetheless. oh, and if she sees a book or paper with writing in it, she tries to read it, knowing that the signs are connected to speech.

when she sees a phone, she picks it up, dials any numbers and says, “hello lola.”  she talks into phones, esp. to her grandparents on both sides.  the conversations go a bit like this:

“hello lola/lolo. *sing* later. ba-bye”

she also knows:
thank you. tatay. mama. uh oh. bob.

in addition, she knows certain sounds that corresponds to certain animals.  when i say duck, she responds “kak-kak.”  when i say dog, she says, “ow.”  when i say cat, she says, “mao.”

Vivenne Tam’s Cut Out Dress

i’ve been watching this dress since it came out, originally retailing at $400+ so you know i’m not going there. It’s been over 7 months, and i still check to see how low the price has gotten, but even on sale in neiman marcus, it’s still selling for $300.  i then saw it on ebay for less than $100, so after some consideration, i think i’m going to bid on it.  I saw it in person once and wanted to cry.  hahahah.  it’s silk chiffon, so you know that’s water on the skin.

it’s really beautiful, simple and feminine.  I only wished it was a size smaller since this dress drapes a little on me even though it’s a size 6.  On this model, it looks like a baby doll dress, but on me, it’s a full dress, coming down to my knees.  But I like it like that.  I feel like Meg Ryan in You’ve Got Mail, with her flowy skirts.  And since it’s a little loose on me, I would have to either pinch it in the side or belt it, which looks great!  The cutouts also make the dress unique, which is what I love, since I’m not a big fan of the tight spandex dresses from Joyce Leslie or the Juniors section of Macy’s.  If you’re in highschool, even college, ok…but after you turn a certain age, the junior’s section can be limiting.

Anyway, I really love the dress.  It doesn’t fit exactly as I wanted, but with a teeny bit of altering, I’m VERY pleased with my purchase.

store: neiman marcus
retail: $400+
status: own

This past week took a huge step towards the future when it comes to mobile applications … for my world at least because Google ported another awesome application to the denizens of the mobile world. I’m going to highlight some apps that I can’t live without (or better known as .. Apps that make my wife hate me because I end up fiddling with my phone too much).

she’s sixteen months old today.

this photo was taken one early morning when she woke up before me.  she let me sleep in, but once i woke up, i saw her staring out the window looking at the trees dance about.  they never use to do that during the summer, so she was probably a bit curious as to what was making them move.  you ever do that?  take time to look at a yellowing tree in the morning when the sun hits it?  the leaves dance and shimmer, and by groups, fall to the ground.  it must be something captivating for a baby who’s only had a year or so to her life.  nevertheless, i quickly shot a picture of her to show her one day when she takes falling yellow leaves for granted.
