Joyful Heart Locket

I’ve been eyeing this since it came out last year, specifically the gold one.  This year, I’ve really started wearing gold jewelry since I’m very into golden yellows when it comes to clothes.  This caught my attention because I’ve always been a fan of lockets, words on jewelry, and long lariat chains that you can wrap around twice to create a bit of layering.

This gold necklace opens up revealing a picture and a colored stone of your choice.  Engraving is optional and "Joyful" is etched on the front of the heart.

Goldenrod Shift Dress

August 20th, 2008 | Marchesa Ababa | No Comments

goldenrodshift I guess by now, you’ve noticed my fascination w/ yellows. Wait, let me rephrase that. Not just every yellow, but more the mustard, the golds, the goldenrods.  Not canary yellow, not baby yellow, and not teeth yellow.

This is called the Goldenrod Shift dress, and it’s completely all silk, with cute flutter ruffle sleeves and ruffle collar.  With a pleated bib and aligned buttons centered on the front, it also adds casual flair by sporting functional side pockets.  It’s really gorgeous, even moreso in person.  It’s classy and yet fun enough as a day dress.

2008aug12 450-1 You can accessorize it up by adding a cutout white belt, which is what I did, or just wear it as is.  It’s also going to be great for fall fashion, w/ a blazer, belt, boots, and scarf.

For added layering, to avoid seeing through it, a matching slip dress is worn underneath, hemmed with lace.  (So you basically get a free golden slip dress)…hahah

One great thing about this dress (thank you to its designer) is its ease in getting in and out of it.  Having five buttons in the center avoids having to pull the dress over your head and wiggling into it.  The slip underneath also has a side zipper to comfortably fit into it, while clinging closer to your body.

Elsinore Wedges

August 20th, 2008 | Marchesa Ababa | No Comments

elsinore In between the world of flats and heels, there’s your in-between-er, the wedge.  Call me out, I’m a big fan of the wedge shoes.  They give the look of height, with the feel of casual.  Sometimes, wearing heels with leggings or extremely tight pants is a miss, depending on the outfit, so I prefer the wedge shoes.

When I first saw these wedges, Elsinore, I absolutely instantly wanted them.  And contrary to my friends’ beliefs, I don’t own that many shoes.  I’m actually very picky.  But these shoes have everything I love: pink ruffles, natural colors, and flower appliques!  Have I already established my weakness for floral appliques?

Surprisingly, these shoes are very comfortable and stable, easy to walk with.  They look adorable with every kind of dress, and even skinny jeans, AND shorts.  Coupled with its casual feel is its overall feminine classy style.

I’ve gotten numerous compliments, from the younger as well as for the older women I know.  One night, while talking with a lot of other older women, my shoes were taken off my feet and passed around to see how it would look on another female’s podalic home.

This one’s definitely a keeper, and one I know my daughter(s) will appreciate me keeping for them.  It’s a good thing I quickly chose to buy these because a week after they came out, they were completely sold out.

Mustard Skinny Matchstick Jeans

August 15th, 2008 | Marchesa Ababa | No Comments

untitledmatchstick Denim’s making its color comeback.  And like most things, it’s replicating a previous era- making it vintage inspired.  Remember the matchstick jeans??

I bought these specific jeans in mustard, my favorite color of the season. The great thing about these jeans is its stretch fabric, making it ultra comfortable.  It creates slimming long legs, easy to match with flats or those tall heels.  These come in three colors: mustard, apple salmon, and grey.

Comment me if you’re interested in where I found them.  They’re more pricey than I’d like my jeans to be, but where else could you find classy yellow matchsticks??

speedy_yellowd Actually, I do know.

For a fourth of the price, you can get these jeans (left).  The color isn’t as brilliant as the jeans above, but they’ll do the trick for your yellow color combos.  These jeans are only $25, not straight-leg matchsticks, but the normal skinny jeans.

Comment me if you’re interested in where I found these as well.

Old Navy Glitter Clutch

July 17th, 2008 | Marchesa Ababa | No Comments

on522884-01vliv01 With all the weddings and parties this year, a girl’s got to have a handy clutch to carry her cards, keys, camera, and lipgloss.

This glitter clutch from Old Navy is a GREAT touch for the ladies.  At first, upon seeing this online, I had my reservations, but in person, seeing that it was reduced to $5, I instantly bought the silver one (the golds were sold out).  If I find the gold, it’ll be a done deal.  The gold is so great for this season because it definitely stands out.  And since purples and yellows are making their stand in trend this season, gold’s the better suitor.

1311486877_RLLG_3 Pair it up w/ those gold high heels and it’ll make any outfit.  I admittingly have been buying the golds this year, the yellow gold AND metallics!  So, for a really awesome price, you can dress up your look and add some glamour.

It’ll go well with that new Banana Republic purple dress I bought on sale…

Vibram Five Finger Sprint

July 17th, 2008 | Marchesa Ababa | 1 Comment

140998_md Introducing the Vibram Men’s Five Finger Sprint.  The first time I saw these shoes was at Boston, during my sister’s graduation.  My attention was quickly diverted to a young man’s feet in the subway.  My first reaction was that looked disturbing, yet attractively ugly, at the same time, fascinating.  The concept is great and the construction is probably pretty efficient for any outdoor performance.

137437_md I looked it up and has this to say about it:

“A thin abrasion-resistant stretch polyamide fabric follows the contour of the foot for comfort. And a flexible, non-marking TC1 performance rubber sole is razor siped to enhance grip over a variety of terrain.”

You can purchase them in select stores.  If you’re in the NJ/Philly area, you can go online at CitySports.com

I was actually considering getting a pair for Perze and myself.  Even if they may look a little disturbingly ugly, they’re pretty snazzy… so they’re snugly.

Lucky Brand Morning Glory Satchel

June 6th, 2008 | Marchesa Ababa | 4 Comments

luckyflowerbagAdding to the post below about my fetish for flower clusters is my newest bag crush.  I hardly have bag crushes, never really liking a bag too much that I’d buy it.  But this one matches what I’ve love- flower appliques, clusters that detail the item.

This is by Lucky Brand Jeans called the “Morning Glory” Satchel.  Interior zip pocket, open pocket for my camera, makeup, and iPhone pocket.  It’s detailed with floral cutout appliqués; scalloped perforated leather trim (LOVE that!); contrast zigzag stitching; brasstone hardware rings.

The only problem is that this beauty costs $248.  Waiting for it to go on sale is fine, but the problem is that they’re selling extremely fast.
